Abstract

The paper analyses the sources of domination in Jadwiga Staniszkis’s processual theory of power. It treats processuality as the central organising principle of the theory and examines the ideal types of the dictate of power, idea and form. The analysis argues that the strategic nodes producing domination may be located in different dimensions of social reality rather than in a single, stable source.

Author's summary

This text is an important step in my reconstruction of Staniszkis’s theory because it shifts attention from the visible holder of power to the mechanisms that generate domination. The processual perspective suggests that effective control can arise from different layers of social reality and that its source cannot be reduced to formal institutions or material resources alone.
